Charlie Villanueva Injury Update
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Pistons announced today the following injury update regarding forward Charlie Villanueva. Following repeated imaging studies as well as multiple consultations from foot and ankle orthopedic surgeons, it has been determined that Charlie Villanueva's right ankle soreness can be attributed to a resolving posterior tibial tenosynovitis with small talotibal spurs. A few weeks of partial ankle immobilization have been recommended in an attempt to alleviate the soreness and discomfort. He will be re-evaluated after that period.
Russell to the Rescue

The Value of Depth
It didn't seem likely a well-played and exciting game would break out between two shorthanded teams, but George Blaha says the Pistons-Nets game was a reminder of how many truly talented players there are in the NBA and how important it is to have players on the bench ready to contribute when called upon.
Staying Strong
Though the Pistons lost all four games on their recent road trip - the last three jammed into three days - they found something to cling to in the finale, a tough loss at New Jersey, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.

The Pistons take on the Knicks at The Garden tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Pistons Fall to Knicks
A familiar pattern repeated itself as the Pistons fell 113-86 to New York on Tuesday night - a big early deficit and too many turnovers, all fueled by a lack of cohesion the Pistons find difficult to address in the face of a schedule that has allowed them three practices in the last 3½ weeks, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.
Postgame Quotes - January 31, 2012
The Pistons dropped to the Knicks 113-86 on the road Tuesday night.
Unshaken Confidence

Postgame Quotes - January 25, 2012
Downed at the Wire
The Pistons overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit and took the lead on a Jonas Jerebko 3-pointer with 1:33 left, but lost 101-98 to Miami on an electric night at The Palace marked by a breakout performance from Austin Daye, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.
Fine Line
Lawrence Frank knows the Pistons, struggling to score, need to exploit early scoring chances against Miami. But they also have to be careful to protect the ball, because no NBA team makes the opposition pay for turnovers quite like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Heat, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.

The Pistons dropped to the Thunder 99-79 on the road Monday night.
Thunderstruck
The Pistons saw what all the fuss was about with the Oklahoma City Thunder, as hot as anyone in the Western Conference coming into the game. They also saw what happens when a franchise makes the most of its trips to the NBA draft lottery, as the Pistons have done the past two years with Greg Monroe and Brandon Knight, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.
Joe D: Frank has 'Great Presence'
The lockout at least gave Joe Dumars the luxury of time to get to know Lawrence Frank before hiring him and even more time after that to get an even fuller view of his head coach - and he's seen him adhere to all of his core beliefs even in the face of a 4-13 start to the season, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.

Joe D on Stuckey & Jerebko
Rodney Stuckey and Jonas Jerebko were restricted free agents coming into the season, but Joe Dumars was committed to bringing them back because each one brings something hard to find, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.

2 Out, Russell Added
Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum will miss tonight's game against Memphis at The Palace, so the Pistons made a move to resupply the backcourt today by adding Walker Russell Jr., son of former Piston Walker D. Russell, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.

Hunted Down
The Pistons have played from behind too often this season, but they were frontrunners for more than three quarters Wednesday night at Minnesota. But the Timberwolves hunted them down with some hot outside shooting from an unlikely source, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons, in a 93-85 loss.

George Blaha has been the voice of the Pistons since the '70s, so when he says he can't remember a young player taking such rapid strides from rookie season to year two as Greg Monroe, that's saying something.

Trumped in Texas
The Pistons didn't shoot a free throw for almost three full quarters and didn't get a point from leading scorer Greg Monroe until the fourth, yet still found themselves trailing by just six points early in the fourth quarter - then a torrent of Houston scoring buried them in a 97-80 loss, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.
Daye Dealing with Slump
Austin Daye has had to deal with injury this season, a sprained ankle, but also with the insult of not seeing one of his 13 3-point shots fall. For a player defined by his shot-making ability, a shooting slump is an especially tough quandary, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.
Joe D: No Small Thinking
No matter how this most unusual of NBA seasons challenges the Pistons, Joe Dumars says it won't alter the long-range plan of developing young building blocks already in place, like Greg Monroe and Brandon Knight, and continuing to add to the core, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.

Turning the Ship
Tayshaun Prince was brought back, Joe Dumars said, to lead the right way under the right circumstances. Prince is taking that responsibility to heart, pushing down his own frustration amid a disappointing start in the knowledge that a young team will follow his lead, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.
Postgame Quotes - January 10, 2012
Downed by Dallas
The Dallas Mavericks might have started the season 0-3, but any thoughts they were headed for a dramatic dropoff from winning the 2011 NBA title were dismissed by the 4-2 stretch over the last four games they carried into The Palace for Tuesday's game with the Pistons. Turnovers, a nagging issue, were the Pistons' undoing again in a 100-86 loss, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.

A Step Back
The Pistons took heart with back-to-back wins to close 2011 and open 2012, but Saturday's 103-80 loss to the Knicks, their third straight, was a step backward in the long process Lawrence Frank has undertaken to put them back on the right track, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.
