As a director of a high school age group league, I have required all game to be officiated in this league with just two officials. This was done for training purposes. I have taken a lot of opinions on this matter and I'm looking for more. One of the main purpose is to have the officials doing the game be less reliant on one another (like in the three man rotation), and more active and reliant on them self (as the two man requires).

Any input in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Depending on the talent of the league, I would recommend using 3-person on the older age groups. A crew working 3-person mechanics properly will miss fewer plays and have a higher call accuracy than your average 2-person crew. A 3-person crew should only make for a better game. Additionally, most expierenced basketball referees usually prefer to work a 3-man system. Usually less experienced referees to not know how to properly work 3 person mechanics.
